With a family of boys, I am constantly addressing their playground falls and driveway-skinned knees. My living room is an MMA octagon and their bunk bed a launching pad.
I am not an overly protective parent. I have great wound-care skills and I know there will probably be stitches and maybe broken bones in our future. Those things heal. But I do get concerned when it comes to their precious brains.
Luckily my husband Ryan Fiorini PhD, is looking out for their noggins. Here is his recent TEDx talk describing how the ability to detect subtle changes in brain function will make some of the riskiest sports and activities safer in the future.
