Why Would a Surgeon Start a Website?

Thank you so much for visiting my website.  I am creating this site for a couple of reasons.

First, since I am planning to take some time away from clinical practice, I have been thinking about what I would miss most. The answer is personal interaction. I so enjoy speaking with my patients and colleagues about their health, our families, what we are reading, and what travels we have planned. To fill that void I have created this website where I can write and hopefully hear from you.

Second, I have always considered the idea of writing a book.  I do not believe that I am ready to do it yet, but I intend to use this site as a “test kitchen” of sorts to help solidify what I do or do not enjoy writing about, and how those topics might be received by an audience of readers.

And lastly, spending the next bit of time taking on more direct child-care responsibilities than I have had in the past will challenge me in new and unforeseeable ways, and I look forward to having a creative outlet. Additionally, the transition from full time surgeon to full time mom will be quite a learning opportunity, and I hope to share what I learn along the way.

Gratefully,

Jennifer Fiorini, MD

I received your beautifully worded letter in the mail just moments ago. It touched my heart to know that you are doing what is best for you, and yet, showing compassion for your patients.
I knew I liked you the moment I met you and I feel privileged to know you.
I respect your decision, as I feel it is so very important to have more time with your children.
I wish you the best in your future endeavor.
Can’t wait to read what you are about to create.

Thank you so much for reaching out. Sometimes we have to take care of ourselves and our family before we can help others. That is this time for me. I appreciate your understanding and support. JF

More women need to now about Padgett’s disease. When you first told me about it 7 years ago, at first, it scared me to death. I tell any woman I can about it.

Dr. Fiorini…..I cannot begin to express how very important you have been in my life. You were there when the most difficult decisions I have had to make about my personal health had to be made. I am excited for you and your new adventures but I will miss you terribly!!!! I applaud your decisions for your family. I, too, in the past had to make similar decisions and they were the right ones. Sending love and prayers and a whole lot of gratitude for all that you did to guide me into a cancer free life. Because of you I am 5 years cancer free. I know you have many success stories but to me, mine is special because of you.

Mrs G, I chuckled at your “amazing healing hands” comment as my hands were most useful in making smoothies for my kids this morning. Thank you so much for your generous words. JF

    Dear Dr. Fiorini,

    Congratulations on your new adventure!
My mom had a wonderful way of looking at life and what she passed on to me has been invaluable. She always said that you only have the minute you are in at the present. If you have fulfilled your responsibilities, are not hurting anyone and you have an opportunity to go somewhere and do something that strikes your interest, do it. Words I have taken to heart and have filled my “gypsy” spirit.
My best to you and your newest ventures.
    I will visit here often.

    Lovingly,
    Nora
